The Board of Nursing also offers information on its official website on the state policies, the nursing practice statements, the meeting dates, the members and the staff, as well as resources for updating and verifying nursing licenses.

How To Become A LPN In North Dakota

Practical nurses are very popular in the health care industry in North Dakota these days – as a matter of fact, most nursing professionals (no matter if they plan to stick to the designation of LPNs or they want to advance to the status of registered nurses or nurse practitioners) start off as LPNs. One of the best aspects of pursuing your education and becoming a licensed practical nurse in the state of North Dakota is that you can achieve this status in only one year, provided that you opt for an approved training program that emphasizes on both theoretical and practical training.

Having said that, the first thing you need to do after graduating from high school is to look for several LPN training programs offered by board-approved nursing schools, and to enroll in them. The eligibility requirements for LPN programs are minimal, as all you need is to be at least 18 years of age, to have a high school diploma or an equivalent, to have a high school GPA of at least 2.0 and to have several letters of recommendation.

After completing the one year training program, you will have to apply for the NCLEX-PN examination. NCLEX stands for the National Council Licensure Examination, and it is applied both to future licensed practical nurses and to registered nurses. Only after passing this crucial exam you can apply or your state licensure. The NCLEX exam is administered in all 50 states, and it aims to test the general medical skills and knowledge of all future nursing professionals, in order to make sure that they rise to the highest standards of quality.

How To Become A RN In North Dakota

Registered nurses are also very appreciated in North Dakota, and if you want to pursue a lucrative career as a RN in this state then you should know that the educational path is similar to that LPNs need to follow. Upon graduation from high school, you have to enroll in a 24-month o 36-month RN training program, which unlike the LPN training program that only gives you a basic overview of the nursing field, will actually give you a deeper insight into the medical field.

After you graduate from the training program, you must become familiar with the NCLEX-RN requirements – this is basically the same licensure examination that licensed practical nurses have to attend, the sole difference is that it is specifically designed to tackle the knowledge of registered nurses. Given the fact that registered nurses undergo a more thorough and in-depth theoretical and practical training, the exam also aims to check all the knowledge of these future health care professionals. Before sitting for the NCLEX-RN, students must agree to a criminal history check and they must also submit their fingerprints to the North Dakota State Board of Nursing.

If you are a RN who has received his or her license in another state, then you can easily get your North Dakota nursing license by endorsement – besides the classic application that every first time licensee has to fill in this state, you also need to submit your official transcripts from the nursing school, a criminal background check, a license verification and others. International Nurses can also apply for a North Dakota nursing license, and in addition to all the basic eligibility requirements mentioned above, international nurses must also submit a social security number for the licensure. Canadian nurses, however, do not need a CGFNS certificate.
