How To Become A RN In Delaware

There are thousands of registered nurses in Delaware, and if you have decided to become one of them, then it is important to complete an approved course that specializes in advanced, professional nursing. You can opt for an Associate’s degree or a Bachelor’s Degree, as this should be enough to get your career started as a registered nurse in Delaware. Nonetheless, if you want to advance on the career ladder, then it is highly recommended to enroll in a Master’s degree in the Science of Nursing training program in Delaware. The Associate’s and the Bachelor’s degree level RN programs will provide you with all the practical and theoretical knowledge and skills that you will need in order to pass the NCLEX-RN examination.

All the courses cover the basics of nursing, in many different specializations ranging from adult care nursing and paediatric nursing to maternal, mental health and medical or surgical nursing. Only after having completed the training program in the Science of Nursing you can move on to apply for a background check, which is required in order for you to be able to sit for the NCLEX exam, which is basically the final barrier and your designation as a registered nurse in Delaware. You can retake the NCLEX-RN exam if necessary.

When it comes to the training every RN must have, it must be said that practical nurses who are already fully licensed in the Science of Nursing can complete the training a lot easier and faster than a traditional student who is starting from scratch. There are numerous fast track RN training options at the disposal of registered nursing students these days.

Delaware BSN Requirements

If you have decided to enroll in a Bachelor’s Degree in the Science of Nursing training program and receive the BSN degree, then it is important to be fully aware of the BSN checklist that applies to the state of Delaware. Firstly, you must apply to a university or college that offers reputable, fully accredited Bachelor’s Degree in the Science of Nursing programs. There are some accelerated programs available as well: typically, BSN training programs require up to four years to be completed, but the accelerated programs may only require as little as 12 months of intensive study.

After you have graduated from the chosen accredited BSN training program, it is important to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam and pass it. This exam is given in every state, and NCLEX-RN is an acronym that stands for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. After that, in order to gain your license as a registered nurse in the state of Delaware, you will have to complete an application form and then submit it to the DBN, or the Delaware Board of Nursing, along with the initial licensing fee. The Delaware Board of Nursing will thoroughly review your application and if you meet the requirements, you will be granted the license, which will have to be renewed once every two years – in addition to this, every registered nurse must also complete some continuing education requirements, including 30 contact hours.
